AUGSTENBERG

WINDSWEPT BREWING Co WOLF DARK & STRONG SCOTTISH ALE

At the top of Augstenberg (2358m) in Liechtenstein. Four countries in the shot – Switzerland back left, Liechtenstein centre, Austria to the right and if you look very carefully Lake Constance and Germany in centre distance.

An interesting day with a bus trip into Lichtenstein up to the ski resort of Malbun where you get a chairlift up to the ridge at 2002m. From there it is a lovely ridge walk along the Liechtenstein/Austria border up to Augstenberg. There is a circular route back that takes you via the Pfalzerhutte for refreshments.

CHRAUCHTAL

KITCHEN BREW SESSION IPA

Looking over the Chrauchtal from our chalet at Weissenberge near Matt in Glarus. Mid summer but an unseasonable snowfall on the tops. The valley leads to the Risetenpass and over to Sargans

Another example of the products of a developing micro brewery industry in Switzerland with another good (American Style) IPA

SIHLSEE

INVERALMOND BREWERY LIA FAIL

On the shores of the Sihlsee near Einsiedeln with the Glarner Alps behind.

Lia Fail is a dark, robust, full bodied beer with a deep malty taste, smooth texture and hoppy aroma.  The beer is rich with a well-balanced and satisfying sweetness with chocolate notes.

The Lia Fáil is a stone at the Inauguration Mound on the Hill of Tara in County Meath, Ireland, which served as the coronation stone for the High Kings of Ireland
